| Why buy BSI Hurricane and Decorative Shutter Systems |
| |
Frequently asked questions: “How do my shutters compare to the others on the market” the following will give you an idea of the difference in construction, installation, and closing requirements |
| |
BSI Hurricane Shutters do not use-extruded slats that
require additional lexan or aluminum backing (slotted or
solid) to pass the large and small missile tests. Our slats
are 1/4” x 1” solid structural aluminum flat bar
withstanding the impact tests without the added backing
material, allowing you to see through the entire fixed slat
opening between each slat (width, perpendicular opening
between each fixed lat is 1/8”, ) with no obstructions.
The opening in-between each fixed slat at the 45-degree
angle is 1/2" |
| |
BSI Hurricane Shutters do not require additional locking
bars or clips for “Miami-Dade County Product Control
Approved”. All parts remain with our shutter systems either open or closed, no off site storage |
| |
BSI Hurricane Shutters do not use pop rivets or screws
in the assembly of our shutter, each connection, welded then sanded to a smooth finish |
| |
BSI, Bahama, Colonial, and Bahama over Colonial Hurricane
or FBC Decorative Shutter Systems close from the inside
of the building with single hung, double hung, or horizontal
sliding windows and in swing doors. Outside closing for awning, casement, or fixed windows, and out swing doors |
| |
One-shutter company states on their web site, “The Ultra
Hinged Colonial Shutter is the only colonial style shutter
to pass the stringent Dade and Broward county impact
and wind loading tests”. I regret to inform them, that
our shutter system required only 4 sets of hinges for a
shutter 11’-1” high with no locking bars or tie down
brackets to secure the shutter to the structure for the
“Miami-Dade County Product Control Approval”, check for your self at www.miamidade.gov/buildingcode/ |

Comparing Briscoe Shutters Systems to the others on the
market is like comparing formica to granite counter tops,
they both serve the same purpose. If you want to save
money and do not mind very little or no natural light
through the closed shutter, rivets, screws, extruded framework, installing additional locking bars and clips from the outside to close the shutters and storing these additional items in your garage when the shutters are open, then Briscoe Shutters Systems are not for you |
| |
If you want the ease of operation (opening & closing), the
beauty of a shutter that resembles a wood shutter, a
Shutter that does not leave you in the dark when closed then we have the products for you |
| |
