Briscoe Shutters Inc. manufactures the strongest most elegant Bahama and Colonial Hurricane Shutters on the market. Our “Miami-Dade County Product Control Approved” Hurricane Shutters are the only shutter on the market with fixed slats (louvers) with a 1/8” perpendicular opening between each slat from jamb to jamb or jamb to vertical mullion to jamb. All the other “Miami-Dade County Product Control Approved” shutters on the market require a solid or slotted backer panel to pass the strict testing by Miami-Dade County Building Code Compliance Office.
BSI Hurricane Shutters are attached to an Aluminum Build out Frame (BOF) - 1” x 4” x 1/8” (standard) aluminum tube that is welded together to create a picture frame that surrounds the window or door opening. The BOF enhances the architectural beauty creating the look of trim or a band around the window or door opening. We factory assemble the shutter to the BOF then disassemble the units for shipping. This insures quality control; making installation simple, just attach the BOF to the building then the Shutter to the BOF.
The BOF is very hard to distinguish between wood trim or stucco bands, most inquires do not realize that the BOF is part of the Hurricane Shutter design, see the photos on the Hurricane Shutter – Bahama & Colonial home pages.
Our “Miami-Dade County Product Control Approved” Hurricane Shutters maximum design pressure: Plus (+) 84.7 psf (pounds per square foot) and Negative (-) 113.3 psf; withstanding winds to 179.5 mph, Exposure “C” and 165.6 mph, Exposure “D”. |
