| Measuring & Pricing |
| |
|
| Hurricane Bahama, Colonial, & Bahama over Colonial
Shutter Systems: |
 |
Our hurricane shutter systems have a build out frame that bolts
to the building around your window opening, then the shutter attaches
to the build out frame. This frame is 1” x 4” x 1/8”
aluminum, we pre drill holes for fasteners, ¼” inside
hole & ¾” outside hole to accept a plastic plug
to cover the hole. |
| |
| Measuring & Calculations for Pricing: |
| |
1 Measure the width & height of the outside
opening or the outside of the window. Do not include any trim or
stucco bands. |
| |
2 Measure the glass in relationship
to the wall
Place a straight edge across the window
corner, measure the clearance from the glass to the straight
edge and the clearance from the wall to the straight edge.
This will determine the thickness of the build out frame.
Our shutter system requires 3" of separation between
the back of the shutter slats to the glass to meet Miami Dade requirements.
1 x 4 frame is included in the base price
/ square feet |
|
| |
3 Add 8” to the width and height |
| Example: 36” (Width) x 48” (Height) = 44”
x 56” = 2,464 square inches (divided by 144 to get
square feet) / 144 = 17.11 square feet (.01 to .49 round
up to .5 and .51 to .99 round up to 1) 17.5 square feet
x price / square feet = $ / shutter (see minimum shutter
sq. ft. price) |
|
| |
4 The hurricane shutters weigh 6 pounds / square
foot. |
